Project Coordinator and Development Support
Donna Hummel
Donna Valverde-Hummel’s expertise in language facilitation, project management and quality assurance is a result of her myriad of experiences. Donna holds two Bachelors: Spanish and Sociology and a Masters of Science in Deaf Education and Deaf Studies. She has taught English/ASL for 11 years in various capacities: a 8-12 teacher, a community college instructor and as a tutor. Currently, she is a Deaf interpreter and an outreach specialist. Her professional experience has been further refined by volunteer experiences with deaf associations (advocacy), home churches (worship) and freelance contracts (writing/interpreting).
Professionalism aside, Donna’s full-time ministry is at home as a mother and a wife. She and her husband have two deaf children who use English in speech/text and American Sign Language. Their experience in navigating deaf education and supporting bilingual access to God’s word brings her to Deaf Kids Connect. Donna volunteers as development support by providing content and writing support to Deaf Kids Connect projects. Whether she is translating English text to ASL or vice versa or doing a video project, Donna intentionally desires for our deaf people to clearly and fully take hold of God’s Word in their heart language.
