An Unexpected Journey

By 1986 Marshall Lawrence had already accomplished more than most songwriters.

His full length stage musical JOSEPH had just been published by Baker’s Plays, and he was not only gaining recognition for his concert ministry, but he was also a successful program director and morning personality for one of America’s leading Christian radio stations.

That’s when the road took an unexpected turn!

In the fall of 1987 Marshall and his wife learned that their youngest daughter was deaf. From that time on his life, and his ministry, would never be the same. He learned that most deaf children are born of hearing parents. He learned about the frustration and the fears of parents of deaf children, and of the isolation so many deaf people feel as they grow up in a hearing world. Most of all, Marshall learned about the MILLIONS of deaf people in this country who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord.

A new mission and a new direction

Marshall still travels the country, singing and preaching in churches. His services are still creative, innovative, challenging and fun, complete with videos and lots of congregational participation. But today he tells the story of how God stretched his mind to see a mission field long neglected. He brings a fresh and unique approach to the theme of missions in the church, and he will encourage your people to see the world around them in a new way.
