More on Kelsey
We’re proud to tell you a bit more about Kelsey Ruth, our Ministry Assistant.
If ever there were a person fascinated with American Sign Language (ASL), it’s Kelsey. The daughter of a home health nurse, Kelsey had seen by a very early age the benefit of this special language that has so much personality and purpose. After taking her first ASL class in middle school, she was hooked.
Kelsey continued her ASL education through a community program offered by Silent Blessings Deaf Ministries, and then began volunteering for us in the summer. She eventually served as an intern with our Deaf ministry during high school, where she took additional ASL classes.
Kelsey is currently enrolled in IUPUI, studying ASL/English interpretation. After graduation, she plans to focus on medical and religious interpreting, while continuing her work at Silent Blessings. Kelsey is a valuable member of our staff, completing a variety of different projects, including audio recording, video editing, and image development for the app and several websites. Her enthusiasm and commitment are contagious.
“I love Silent Blessings, because I believe in the work we do,” Kelsey added. “I’m so excited about the God Loves Deaf Kids app we have created. My main goal is for more and more Deaf kids to learn about God and His love for us. I think the app is a great vessel to accomplish this goal. It warms my heart and keeps me going when I read the fan mail kids send to us.”
It warms the hearts of all our other team members too, and so does Kelsey.
