In His Image
Did you know most people are unaware that deaf and hard-of-hearing children are created in God’s image? Most people believe God is the author of sounds and speaking alone. Most people do not know that God is also the author of visuals and sign language. Most deaf children are seen, yet invisible at the same time. They are touchable, yet neglected at the same time. Deaf children around the world are facing spiritual and physical poverty. We are thankful for Deaf Harbor’s amazing metaphor of what God’s image-bearers look like in Genesis 1:26-31. We are encouraged by the Truth that we all are created in His image. We are passionate about reaching, caring for, and connecting with those wonderfully & fearfully made who are lonely, ignored, isolated & rejected.

Video transcript:
You will notice two signs from the English word in the Bible in Genesis 1:26-31 “In Our Image” and “In His Image”. Do these two signs mean we look exactly as God looks? No, it doesn’t mean that. We have two examples of what these words mean:
(1) When you look at a lake during the nighttime, you see the moon floating on the water. Does the moon exist on the water? No… the water reflects the image from where the moon is.
(2) Father and son. The son looks like his father. He acts and behaves just like his father. Does that mean they are exactly the same? No, he is the spitting image of his father. That’s what these words mean.
