Parents In Prayer – Our March Parent Support Zoom
This month’s Parent Support Zoom Prayer Gathering opened with a simple reminder: Jesus gave us authority on earth as it is in heaven. That authority shapes how we pray, how we lead our families, and how we support one another in community. Tanya invited parents to reflect on the question: What does prayer mean to you? More than a spiritual habit, prayer is a powerful declaration of trust in the One who fights our battles and gives us strength to parent boldly.
Not a Stage, but a Vineyard
During her prayer, Tanya described the parenting journey as a path through different “villages” – each representing emotional places many of us have been:
- Anger & Denial: The first village, where grief, loss, and confusion often felt.
- Hopelessness: A space where questions like “what if” and “why me” flood in.
- New Beginnings: Where we begin to see God moving—bringing light, clarity, and growth.
While we often revisit these villages back and forth, each step is part of our journey toward wholeness. That’s why this Parent Support zoom space remains confidential. Unlike our public podcast launching later this year – which spreads seeds of encouragement broadly like “Johnny Appleseed” – this Zoom meeting is more like an apple farmer: cultivating deep care, nurturing growth, and protecting sacred spaces for healing.
Each of us finds ourselves in different villages, and it’s important that we take time to truly listen to one another and open the floor for a safe space to share, ask questions, clarify some puzzles, and pray together. That’s why we deeply value the inner process. As Jesus says in John 15, we are His branches. And if we truly understand how a vineyard works, we know that process cannot be rushed. It’s simply not how God designed it. That’s why we share these blogs and quotes – with respect for each person’s unique journey.
Walking in Authority, Covered in Grace
Tanya prayed that we would remember that our role as parents is to walk in authority – asking boldly, praying with confidence, and trusting that God will provide the tools and wisdom we need when we ask. Whether it’s making decisions about preschool, understanding Deaf culture, learning sign language, or navigating family dynamics, we can approach God with full assurance that He listens.
Sharon led a heartfelt prayer for families – especially those learning ASL and navigating new cultural spaces. Her prayer reminded us that God meets us where we are and empowers us through His Spirit to love, support, and guide our children well.
Annmarie joined in prayer, lifting up every family navigating blended Deaf and hearing dynamics. Her words were full of honesty, asking God for more love, kindness, understanding, and unity in every home.
Tanya closed with a prayer of blessing, reminding us that Deaf Kids Connect is God’s ministry, He’s the CEO of this organization. Parents of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind children were chosen for this calling – and God makes no mistakes. He equips us with exactly what we need. The calling is not about us. It is about making God known among those families impacted by deafness.
Sacred Moments, Small Hands
As the prayer meeting comes to a close, Tanya’s 4-year-old daughter and Annamarie’s 1-year-old son – sweet reminders of the very heart of this ministry – joined in. Their little hands waved at each other, discovering the beauty of connection through Zoom, even while miles apart. These real moments remind us: parenting is sacred. It’s raw. It’s a calling. And in the body of Christ, we don’t walk it alone.
Due to high demand, we’ll begin monthly parent prayer meetings, starting in the morning and, as needed, in the evening. Be on the lookout for emails with details.
Until then – rest well, walk in faith, and know this: God is growing something beautiful in your family.
